You’re Allowed To Enjoy Life. Even When It’s Hard.

Sometimes people’s lives are actually pretty great — except for one little area that needs intentional focus, love, and attention.

Unfortunately, self-help often works as a trap preying on desire, thus helping them avoid the issue by ensuring they see inadequacies in all other areas, forcing them to strive for the unattainable: Perfection.

Soon, what started out as a small problem can turn to be an insurmountable one.

You are allowed to give yourself permission to enjoy your life, even when it’s not going exactly how you’d like it. I would assume this is a prerequisite for a good life because no man or woman is ever going to be fully satisfied.

Therefore, it’s imperative to find satisfaction in the dissatisfaction — comfort in the discomfort.

If this resonates, maybe it’s time to shut the books, the blogs, the Instagrams, the YouTube’s, and the influencers, and instead, free up that time wasted daily to focus on getting that one area of life — your greatest perpetrator — that causes the most grief sorted.

If you try too hard and overexert yourself, you’re only going to make life harder. Instead, try to block out a specific amount of time each day to work on it, and trust you’ll come back to it tomorrow.

That way, not only will you free yourself from the stress that doesn’t serve you — you’ll significantly increase the likelihood of resolving your problems. Not to mention no longer having to postpone living, loving, and laughing because — whether we like it or not — turbulence is always around the corner.

How we respond to it is how we build resilience. I often need reminding of this myself: we’re here for a good time, not a long time.

Over and out.
